2017-2015The Fire and the Word
Painting in this exhibition shines a light on the voice of Hannah Arendt, one of the most lucid intellectuals of our recent history, who had the capacity to understand the atrocities of her time and the courage to tell them, as they were happening. Her vision, critical, activist and hopeful, was at the same time rejected for being inconvenient in a society formed upon defective foundations. Understanding her influence in my work meant understanding the action of painting as an exercise in critical and creative thinking or also as a satellite in the utopic need to explain the unexplainable and of daring to consider the world in conflict from her idea of amor mundi(love of the world).
