Arrangements and ruptures

After the greys, this series finds respite in their counterpart in colour, restoring emotional vitality to paintings conceived through a process of continual questioning.
The interplay between the two terms in the title Arrangements and Ruptures speaks of the need to open up our perception of a fate marked by violence in order to glimpse a different future. From this perspective, the series returns to To See or To Burn and proposes new sensory metaphors for a supposed perceptual instability. At a time in constant flux, the flashes in these paintings underscore their revelatory potential; like an impulse, intuition or premonition coming from other fleeting sensations that capture the fragility of the moment. As opposed to those induced and predictable certainties that follow their prescribed course and deny the strange, painting does not assert; it asks questions, trying to distinguish between what we should fear and what we might perhaps begin to trust. These loose ideas will be developed further in new works.
